sankofa- day 34 (project 365)

Sankofa - Akan (Ghana ) Andinkra symbol----- Return and get it.
“Se wo were fi na wosankofa a yenkyi," which translates "It is not wrong to go back for that which you have forgotten."

It is known that the African symbols presence in the work of enslaved and free iron workers in adornment on homes, gates, etc. and in modern contemporary work is still evident.   As seen in my image of today of my screen door.

You don't know who you are unless you know where you come from.  Sure I was born here as many of us but our roots lie elsewhere and the importance of our ancestry and history and knowledge is of utmost value.
