Bunnies & Birthdays- day 90 (project 365)

This morning Mahlia woke up to find a basket left for her on the front porch , and was totally excited to go see her Aunties and Grandparents today and got all dolled up.   The night before she colored eggs with her Uncle Cam and Coco.

Today is also my mothers and twin brother Uncle Larry's  birthday,  miss you mom.  You are always in my thoughts and I know your energy is ever present.      It is also Cesar Chavez's birthday and many celebrate and honor him and his works.   Cesar Chavez was an American farm worker, labor leader and civil rights activist, who, with Dolores Huerta, co-founded the National Farm Workers Association.  My mother and father worked closely with the orange pickers in Riverside (actually picked oranges) and with Cesar Chavez's cause.  Much respect  and love to all civil rights workers, supporters, and movements!

ooh la la -day 89 (project 365)

I am an hour late on getting this up for the day.....  I just got in from Sabrina's Soiree (spelling???) .   I am pretty tired and feel asleep a few times while uploading the images.   Was a very nice get together for her special day...some photos of the Berlesque dancers,  with Lady Borgia and the girls. I apologize for blanking out on their names.   Thanks Sabrina for letting me take part.   Time for bed.

Tiara and Ciara - day 88 (project 365)

I took some images of  Tiara and Ciara .   Beautiful girls of my friend Deronda...thanks for letting me post just a few for my blog tonight.    We did a short shoot for simple head shots for them, they have already done some commercials and a few things.   Ahhh youth, no makeup and just beautiful. Best of luck young ladies.

สวัสดี-s̄wạs̄dī--- day 86 (project 365)

 สวัสดี
(s̄wạs̄dī)  --  Hello in Thai

2:30 a.m. -- I was picking my son up , along with other parents , from his trip from Thailand.   I am so grateful that he arrived home safely.   We stayed up a while and talked about his trip and he shared some photos with me.   Of course he was wide awake, would be morning in Thailand.   I didn't get to sleep until 4:30 and woke up shortly after 6 am ......and then to work.   I am pretty exhausted right now , but totally worth seeing my youngest home and safe.

Jai brought me back some fisherman's pants....as I wear them and have a background photo of Thailand that Jai took.....thanks my "heart".   (In Thailand when he introduced himself by name, the girls at the school giggled, and he found out that in Thai his name means "heart" )

the pink moon /duh its march- day 85 (project 365)

It is a time to honor the feminine energy and the coming of spring.   Enjoy your night everyone.

Full Pink Moon – April This name came from the herb moss pink, or wild ground phlox, which is one of the earliest widespread flowers of the spring. Other names for this month’s celestial body include the Full Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and among coastal tribes the Full Fish Moon, because this was the time that the shad swam upstream to spawn.

(well apparently I am a month ahead of myself....what the heck. so now you all know about the April Pink moon)

it is March ----

Full Worm Moon – March As the temperature begins to warm and the ground begins to thaw, earthworm casts appear, heralding the return of the robins. The more northern tribes knew this Moon as the Full Crow Moon, when the cawing of crows signaled the end of winter; or the Full Crust Moon, because the snow cover becomes crusted from thawing by day and freezing at night. The Full Sap Moon, marking the time of tapping maple trees, is another variation. To the settlers, it was also known as the Lenten Moon, and was considered to be the last full Moon of winter.

rooftops and sunsets- day 84 (project 365)

What a beautiful day it is, watched the sunset from my porch over the rooftops....birds singing, woodpecker doing his thing, and  playing kids laughter echoing  in the air and then ...... young teenagers walking by playing music singing along...... "Bitch better have my Money" ......oh wow!    I was that teenager once, hope they notice the sunset!

As lovely as this day is I am going to bed early for it has been a long few days and a few restless nights.

the line- day 83 (project 365)

Sunday had many chores and errands in store today.  I wasn't the only one, as the unmentionables hang on a line.

blah blah blah---day 82 (project 365)

Tonight was hanging with my groupie watching Hotel Transylvania .   Blah Blah Blah (Dracula voice).....

new and old meet- day 80 (project 365)

My cousins from Vancouver Canada have been visiting.  We have been blessed to be able to see them of and on this week while they enjoy some family vacation (as I believe they say "holiday") time.   It has been such a blessing to have my generation  and their children meet the 3rd generation of cousins for the first time.   It has been far to many years , although around four years a few more family members are around and more on the way.   My cousin and his family leave back to Vancouver tomorrow and we were able to do a group photo, I am glad everyone obliged when I said lets do this!  Family history and documentary in the making and a few flicks from our visits.   It has been very nice to have them around and it feels like we haven't missed a step since the last time we saw each other, of course except for the kids growing.    It is our turn to make a trip up North and I hope soon.

yellow brick road - day 80 (project 365)

This volkswagen bus made me think of my uncle, aunty and cousins to the north in Canada.  When I was young I remember my Uncle Larry drove one and visited with all the family in tow.   I thought it was the coolest thing.   Now my cousin Damian has one, and I have to say from the photo I saw, looks pretty cool driving it.   Following that yellow brick road down memory lane and joyful one's at that.

light- day 78 (project 365) 3-19-13

I felt very dark today  and negative....I needed to have some light in my life , an angel, guardian and some creative energy.     My best therapy I have found even when I feel the darkest is to pick up the camera, a paint brush, pencil, anything that I can work with.   Sometimes my best work comes from that deep space.   I think artist, (visual , literal or musical)  tend to express themselves on a whole other level  when not in the right frame of mind ....   maybe because we are  just become honest with your feelings and have a need to release  and really don't care what people think.   I need to create like that on all levels  regardless of what "space" I am in.  I need to create and have my vision for me not others, not everyone is going to feel what I do as an artist and that's ok  and there will be those that can appreciate or even get it.       Here's to the ups and downs of life and take it as life lessons and move forward in a positive motion and just be me.

old but new - day 77 (project 365)

While I am working on some other things I have decided to post some images that I have taken during my time doing my 365 project but have not  posted.  This image was taken when my grandbaby girl and I were having one of our photo sessions playing together.   She reminds me of  an image that I would find of a little child from Indonesia or something similar, the purity and innocence that the little one's hold.   Such a shame that the world will spoil that, but I will do all I can to have her see the positive and blessings that always exist in this madness.

light and peeling paint- day 76 (project 365)

Just posting a few images from light and textures I was playing with.   I have been pretty tired and trying to keep focused somewhat.  I kind of feel like the chipped peeling paint is promising something beautiful  underneath .  Here's to some positive creative energy this week revealing itself.....

eye on the sparrow- day 74 (project 365)

Jai is in Thailand about now ....it was a little rough for me knowing I won't be able to speak to him for two weeks , since they will not have access to phones or internet.   Actually no news is good news.   This is not a posh hotel trip ...my son will come back changed from this experience.  They will be in rural areas, visiting and staying at a welfare school where mountain youth attend and so much more.   I really was just asking the universe for his ultimate safety and the biggest gift of all to bring him back safely to us.

This morning I drove to work and was getting my usual things out of the car and found an post it note from Jai where he was sitting last night ...it said..." In Thailand, Love you  Jai"   What a beautiful way to start the morning and what  a great young man he is to know his mom so well, and just love me.

After seeing that I open my car door with tears of joy in my eyes and see this little sparrow with no life as soon as I open my door.  Hoping that this is not a horrible omen of some sort I immediately take the sage from my car and bless the little spirit that this creature holds and ask for the protection.   I am taking comfort that  this totem spirit telling me all the positive things that it represents spiritually ...joy, creativity , simplicity , protection,  to keep our burdens light  to avoid a heavy heart.   Positive vibration .

The spiritual hym " His Eyes are on the Sparrow"  is one of my favorites and came to mind.   To remind of the safe keeping of the Universe for all of us.
