ER- day 207 (project 365)

Had a little scare today but everything and everyone is doing just fine.  This is while waiting in the "holding cell" as I was calling it to the x ray area.  Not a big fan of the hospital...who is, however  I am thankful for people in  medical field.     I am just glad all things are good right now.

Motu Mahlia- day 206 project 365

Mahlia did her first official dance class tonight with the Motu  group.   It took a moment for her to warm up and just do it.   She wants to go back tomorrow, but had to let her know that next week will come quickly for her.

walking meditation - day 205 (project 365)

Many years ago I remember reading writings from Thich Nhat Hanh about walking meditation.   To walk in joy and peace , leaving your footsteps with no fear and anxiety imprinted on the ground with no definite destination.   To be mindful of each step and come back to the now.  This was my walking meditation today.  It felt good that this lesson came to back to me and how my motion, movement, activity in all things should be more like this.

a summer to remember- day 204 (project 365)

As Jasmin started to invade Jai's room putting baby things in his closet (with his permission), I sat on the floor observing.   Mahlia helping her mother put her baby sister's items in the organizer and Jai playing his video games as if nothing was happening.  The Rasta flag, Hawaiian flag,  Bob Marley, Aztec calender,  Jimmy Hendrix,  sombreros, video games and teenage funk replaced with young man swag,  will all be packed away or taken to the dorms and little ones will take over .   I got teary eyed.   I realized in the past few months I have posted a lot of images of my grandchildren, children, family in general and our everyday happenings.    Of course in order to get that image for the day , many times that is  what the day consist of.    As I sat there watching what was going on around me I realized that this summer truly is one to remember.   I sat on the porch looking at the moon admiring the beauty and power in reflection of recent events.

This summer my youngest son has graduated, turned 18 and will be off to college in a few weeks, Jasmin is bringing another grandchild into our lives in a few weeks,  Mahlia the first grandchild will be 4 years old this summer, Makai is learning to walk and will be a year old already, and I am ...well on to other opportunities and adventures for myself....me...wow.   That's a new one.

There will obviously be more images of these things as they unfold in our lives, my life.

My daddy use to say--  Life is High Adventure--- and I add,  Live the journey.

Ahutoru Nui- day 203 (project 365)

I went and saw a Tahitian dance group from Tahiti - Ahutoru Nui tonight.   I was lucky enough to go back stage and get some photos and just posted a few from the performance (thanks Babe).   I did take my camera expecting to take a few images and was blessed to capture some candid images before hand .   I really need some prime lenses and I am  throwing it out in the universe to make it manifest !!!!!   Can't wait to look at the rest of the images.  The performance was 3 hours long!  They are amazing , strong dancers.

cowabunga- day 201 (project 365)

Teen Beach Movie a Disney movie premiered tonight and Mahlia was so so excited .   We had leis , popcorn and Hawaiian punch with little umbrellas for her for the movie.   I have always loved musicals since I was a little girl.  I watched the old beach musicals, Gigit, Annette Funicello (who just recently passed on) , and all the other cheesy musicals  from 40's &50's , Fame, Grease.       I wanted to dance always....another thing from another life.   I will admit it and say I loved watching this with my girls and actually liked the movie, very cute ... the choreography was actually very good.   I am a big kid!!!!    Yay for movie and with my girls Mahlia and Jasmin night!    Oh yes,  and  Jasmin has started the nesting stage ...getting bags packed , washing the clothes , cleaning up (some)....oh my.

movement- day 200 (project 365)

For many years , many moons ago I used to dance in a Polynesian dance troop (Motu Nehe Nehe)  and every so often I  go back to visit  .  I really love to dance and it is the best exercise , especially because it doesn't seem like it when you are dancing and having fun sweating.    I truly enjoyed myself and now it isn't my own children but grandchild that wants to dance so there I will be at least once a week.

cavity sam- day 199 (project 365)

Mahlia asked me to play Operation with her.   I was game , I remember from when I was a kid.   What the heck....when did cell phones become a part to grab from Cavity Sam?  It still buzzes, no cards to read and it makes a noise to tell you if you grab the item by burping, ringing, barking, etc.   Even Cavity Sam and his operation has evolved into modern times.

this way...that way...- day 198 (project 365)

I saw this sign as walking today....  love it and need to print and hang.    I have felt this way all to often at times, this way...that way...which way?????  Oooh hell with it.   Just follow your instincts and trust , don't force it , just believe  and manifest.  The universe will guide you in the right direction..  Let it be organic!

the spirit warrior - day 197 (project 365)

Tonight I went to Juan Zermeno's art showing.   My friend Zerina was instrumental in having her fathers work put up and shown, and I believe this may be the first time.    I felt very honored to be able to take part in such a monumental moment for him and his family.   Beautiful work, poetry and energy.   Thank you for sharing your talents and spirit with us.

I am wiped out...today was Jasmin's baby shower.   Very long day, yet a good day.   I had to post an image and will of this beautiful cake.   Believe it or not the woman that did this only does it as a hobby.....pshh.....I think it shouldn't be a hobby any longer.   A good day and beautiful at that in San Diego.  Yawwwnnnn.....

I am Trayvon- day 195 (project 365)

Today the man (Zimmerman)  that was being charged for killing 17 year old Trayvon Martin was found not guilty of "ALL" charges.   I am sickened.   I get in a court of law it is suppose to be beyond a reasonable doubt.  This man openly admitted to following this youth thinking he was suspicious and was told by the police force during a phone call to stop following this young man and they would respond.   Treyvon ended up dead after calling family and friends to say that someone had been following him as he was returning from the store.  In my opinion a perfect example of profiling, fear and ignorance, and based on "Stand your Ground" (if armed and you feel threatened you have the right to defend yourself or even kill) ...and  he is justified .  I surely need to research this much more.     I am at a loss of words.   I just keep thinking this could of been my child on any given day.   So tragic.   May the family find peace.   I am Treyvon Martin.

little Mr Big- day 194 (project 365)

Tonight we had Mr Big (Clayton) hanging out with us .......Jasmin's little brother and Mahlia's uncle.   Makes me smile  who ever thought.    I just thought it was pretty cool image for her and her little brother to look back at one day.   He resting on his unborn niece.

My strong sista's- throw back thursday (project 365)

I was just thinking about the changes I am going through and new adventures that lie ahead in my life and how more than ever I need to gather that wonderful power that I possess as a woman.

I felt this post was fitting.   I have taken images of some beautiful, talented and strong woman- warriors  that I have had the honor to touch me in one way or another.....  I really need to put something together with all the fabulous-ness  they possess .  I have always wanted to do a show with the images of the feminine energy and all its wonderful differences, strengths, the bond we share as women.   This is only a few images of many women that I have had the honor and I thank them all for letting me capture just a slight glimpse of the power they possess.  ( Sandra-Asantewaa , Empress and Zerina ).
