Today while i was driving I saw someone walking their dog with a dog cone on, felt a bit of sadness for the poor guy not being able to scratch that itch. I started thinking about how it would feel if someone made us wear one of these contraptions and how maybe sometimes, like today, that it might be a good idea to wear one for the safety of others. Then on a deeper level - how I/we wear this and a leash a bit to often to pacify others and don't allow ourselves to just be and even lick, scratch or bite when needed.

where the sidewalk ends
There is a place where the sidewalk ends And before the street begins, And there the grass grows soft and white, And there the sun burns crimson bright, And there the moon-bird rests from his flight To cool in the peppermint wind. Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black And the dark street winds and bends. Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow, And watch where the chalk-white arrows go To the place where the sidewalk ends. Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow, And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go, For the children, they mark, and the children, they know The place where the sidewalk ends.

Surface - day 10 (365 project)
stagnant and still
confined no more
rising to the surface
from depths of darkness
and accumulation
that weighs down
a gentle flow
reflection of light
absorbed
to where
am i?
i am

The Kitchen Table- day 4 (365 project)
When I was taking a blk and white photography class at City College Annette Fournet was instructing the class. One day she ,Annette, told me that an image I had done reminded her of Carrie Mae Weems and she thought I would really enjoy her. She was absolutely correct (btw - loved that class and Annette-her website http://aefournet.com).
Carrie Mae Weems did a series called "The Kitchen Table Series" and this really reminded me of that series. Inspiration , yes. Close to it ..no . I have posted a photo from that series at the end of this page .

I was watching little Mahlia play with her tea set as we often do together and I thought of how children so often don't engage in play that would let there imagination run anymore. Instead they sit and play on phones, computers, etc. This is the way of the world. I wanted to show in my photograph that the engagement in play is not there but directed towards the gadget. We just need a balance , all of us. Believe me I get caught up as well, but I like to play, feel the sun and soil in my toes.
thanks to my grandbaby for working with me and following instruction oh so well to get the shot. wish I could of cleared everything out from the kitchen and just had the table...to much going on to focus on the main subject. Maybe I will photoshop all of it out later. Had to have a posting today.
