The lil' groupie was feeling the art vibe today for a moment and pulled out her paints. Of course she decided to move on to something else that got her attention. Always tomorrow.

time to paint - day 334 (project 365)
I have been looking at my paint brushes , paints, pencils, charcoal, etc. with an old photo of my father with some youth/students on my windowsill for days now, with the inclination to paint...... I think it is time to put some paint to something.

the execution- day 332 (project 365)
noun: execution
1. the carrying out or putting into effect of a plan, order, or course of action.
1. the technique or style with which an artistic work is produced or carried out
2.
the carrying out of a sentence of death on a condemned person.
Execution ----- this has been on my mind all day. The fact that I need a course of action in my life, in my work creative and otherwise and then those things that need to be put to death.
As many of us think about our year as it has flown by and what to do going forward for a positive outlook for the coming year, I realize what I need most is to "execute" (sentence to death) things in me. Shedding the self doubt in my abilities as an artist and keep working at it, living each day and believing the dream is real. Being more connected with me in health- mentally, physically, emotionally. Judgement. To believe in self before others, even if they do not. Realizing I am a woman of worth!

bad bad grandma- day 330 (project 365) 11-21-13
Today my groupie decided to give her doll a haircut , unfortunately it just wasn't her doll. Talk about feeling horrible and having to tell her mommy that she was silently in her room up to something. Scene : hair on floor and realizing not just dolls hair. She chopped off her braid and more. I should have known better. Bad, bad grandma. I was telling my daughter how she had done the same thing when she was younger but only a strand of hair not a full on butchering of the hair. Mommy came home and fixed it up a little and of course I told Mahlia how beautiful she is hair or not.

poi balls- day 329 (project 365) 11-20-13
Tonight I took Mahlia to dance practice and she is finally feeling comfortable and following and learning the choreography , not being shy. She is the youngest there but is having such a great time. Now the Poi Ball is used in a tribal dance of the Maori from New Zealand and little Mahlia put her on little twist on it like she was going to lasso a horse. Gotta love it!

So what do you think the story is behind this? I really just thought it would be an interesting photo just sitting there among the other things around the house.

Taurus Moon - day 326 (project 365) 11-17-13
The full moon in Taurus . A powerful full moon for me.... to look inside myself, what is my truth, passion, meaning, to take back my power once again ....finding the gold within!
The so many faces of the Taurus....... just don't cross them it can be nasty.
(and a quick flick of the groupies watching me)

little people and a new vision - day 323 & 324 (project 365)
Of course most of my images have been of the little one's lately , spending a lot of time with them during the days. I will say that there will be no shortage of images of them while they were little.
Time for some creative vision soon and as I have been told step up my game. What to do...... use what you have, the best equipment helps greatly but the vision is the key.
A great reminder for myself!!!
Photography is not about cameras, gadgets and gismos. Photography is about the photographers. The camera didn't make a great picture any more than a typewriter wrote a great novel.

Mahlia's Place- day 322 (project 365)
This girl runs the roost! My little groupie loves to let me take photos of her. I remember her mom Jasmin the same way at this age. Eventually I was told to put the camera away and away from her, hopefully that won't happen for a while with Mahlia.

THE HAUMĀNA- day 318 (project 365)
Went to see a film with some of the Motu girls on Saturday . THE HAUMĀNA was a one night showing at the Asian Film Festival. A Hawaiian film about the spirit of hula as well as the difficulties with societies views , personal and cultural significances, especially for the meaning of dance and the history/spirit not to be lost as so often in many cultures it is . I will be sure to keep an eye out for it next year and see some films. I enjoyed it very much and of course in the company of friends and of course what other film festival would you find a snack table with ramen noodles, etc. Afterwards we gathered at Island Style Cafe (off of Santo Rd) to eat. I would recommend it to anyone.....loco moco (huge) , crepes, strawberry/guava cake, and the biggest shaved ice I have ever seen with ice cream and the works.
